ST. LOUIS — Snow melt from the north and recent rains have pushed the Mississippi River slightly above flood stage at several towns north of St. Louis.
The National Weather Service says the river as of midday Thursday was a little over a foot above technical flood stage in Hannibal, where it is expected to crest Friday. The river is also slightly above flood stage in Louisiana, Clarksville and Winfield, with crests expected in those towns by Saturday.
No major problems are expected. Only farm fields and a few roads near the waterway are impacted.
