VAN BUREN TWP. — Police responded to a vehicle off the road on Becks Grove Road March 17 and arrested the driver.

Kajetan Wojciechowski, 40, Bloomington, was sitting in the broken-down 2002 Mercedes Benz when Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht and Bill Southerland arrived at around 8 p.m.

Deputies reported smelling alcohol on him, that his speech was slurred, his eyes were red and watery, his balance was unsteady and he leaned against the vehicle.

He failed three field tests, and a breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.21, more than twice the legal limit, the report said.

Wojciechowski was booked into the Brown County jail. On March 18, he was charged with operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
