Letter: Learn about logging at Barn Dance for the Trees

To the editor:

A lot of us here in Brown County have noticed the dramatic increase in the logging of our state forests. If you’re concerned by the number of logging trucks on our roads and would like to know what’s going on, please consider joining us for The Barn Dance for the Trees, Friday, April 1 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Mike’s Dance Barn on State Road 46 between Bloomington and Nashville.

This is a joint event created by the Bloomington Old Time Music and Dance Group in conjunction with the Indiana Forest Alliance.

Tamara Loewenthal will call a variety of fun and beginner-friendly dances. Music will be provided by Jamie Gans (on fiddle) and the Westside Alley Cats (Jack Laskey on banjo, Rob Fischman on guitar, Robert Widlowski on bass). No partner necessary.

This will be a fun and family-friendly event. There will be plenty of dancing and a few brief discussions about what’s going on in our state forests and what we can do about it. There will also be plenty of opportunities for conversations, as several IFA members will be there to answer questions.

We look forward to meeting you.

David H. Seastrom, Possum Trot Road
