Barbara AtwoodBarbara M. Atwood, 81, of Bloomington, passed away Monday March 28, 2016, at her residence.

Barbara was born Jan. 14, 1935 in Monroe County, the daughter of the late Morris and Pauline (Taylor) Brinegar.

A homemaker, Barbara served on the Monroe County 4-H Board of Directors, was a member of the Walk-A-Lot Home Demonstration Club, played Bunco for over 50 years, and was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Bloomington.

Barbara is survived by a daughter, Brenda Dillman (husband, Cary) of Bloomington; two sons, Jeff Atwood (wife, Pamela) of Nashville and Tracy Atwood of Florida; a brother, James Brinegar of Florida; seven grandchildren, Ryan Holmes (Kayla), Megan Hoskins (Mike), Tiffany Jackson, Tabitha Harwell (Jonathan), Thomas Dillman, Anna Dillman, and Matthew Dillman (Megan); and three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Bock, Colton Hoskins and Brooklyn Hoskins.

She was preceded in death by her husband John T. Atwood; and her parents.

Visitation for Barbara will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday April 1, at the chapel with burial to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions can be given in Barbara’s memory to the Bloomington Center for Women’s Ministries, 1525 S. Rogers St., Bloomington, IN 47403.
