Club news for March 16, 2016

Rotary Club

The Brown County Rotary Club will charter its first Interact Club with 21 Brown County High School students Thursday, March 17, in the high school cafeteria beginning at 7:15 a.m.

Southern Indiana Rotary District Governor Jim Bright and Brown County Rotarians will welcome the students and present the charter. The new club will become Rotary International’s 18,662nd Interact Club and work with the parent local Rotary Club in promoting leadership skills and responsible citizenship.

“The term ‘Interact’ is derived from ‘inter,’ for international, and ‘act,’ for action,” said Brown County Club President Larry Hanson. “Interact clubs are expected to complete two major service projects each year, one to serve the community and the other to promote international understanding.”

Brown County Rotarians also are preparing for their first Art Auction Saturday, March 19, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Seasons Conference Center to raise money for Rotary charities and area artists. The event includes wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. Single tickets cost $35 and $60 for a pair. Call Hanson at 317-418-7771 or Scott Hutchinson at 812-988-6185 for information.
