NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Police in North Las Vegas say speed appears to be a factor in a crash that killed one person and injured six, and the possibility of alcohol or drug use also is being probed.

Officer Aaron Patty said Thursday that a male passenger in an SUV died when a sedan filled with teenagers slammed into it about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on North Fifth Street at Tropical Parkway.

Patty says the male driver and a female passenger in the SUV and four teenagers in the sedan were taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

The police spokesman says the injured are being treated for various injuries that aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
