A driver was transported from the scene of a one-vehicle accident March 6 after his truck left the roadway and struck a tree head on.

Thomas J. Gaskins, 58, Nashville, was driving southbound in the 4400 block of Bear Wallow Road at around 8 p.m. when his truck came up over a hill and failed to make a corner.

Gaskins then drove straight off the road and side swept a utility pole before hitting a tree head on.

Gaskins was bleeding heavily from his face and had a “serious amount of pain in his neck,” an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Shrader states.

He was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital by EMS 8.

Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Gaskins was wearing a seat belt and his truck was towed from the scene.
